The Mission of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service: working with others to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.

The Neosho National Fish Hatchery Visitor Center, which opened its doors to the public in December 2010, achieved Gold status according to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating system. It is the first facility within U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Fisheries program to receive this prestigious rating. Read more about this here: http://www.fws.gov/midwest/neosholeed.htm

Welcome Newcomers!!

Within the last two weeks, the hatchery has received two new endangered adult pallid sturgeon!  They were caught from the Missouri River and brought to us by Missouri Department of Conservation. We are delighted to have another male (sturgeon on the right) and female (sturgeon on left) to add to our group.  Blood, ultrasound, and endoscopy work was completed on these two pallids and our other potential spawners today.  We currently have a total of 9 females and 2 males, and have room for more adults.  The newcomers make a fantastic addition to our broodstock collection, and we are eager to keep them happy and healthy for the spring spawning season.
